Why You Shouldn't Be Hesitant To Improve Strength or Gain Muscle

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

When I use the phrase ‘improving strength’ or ‘gaining a little muscle’ while explaining the best way to prime our bodies to burn fat, there’s often something of a hesitation.

Often, strength and muscle are linked inside your mind with body builder style muscles and bulking up.

But, gaining strength doesn’t have to be about lifting heavily loaded bars or huge dumbbells; you can also build strength by practicing and perfecting a whole variety of exercises, and by adjusting variables other than the resistance you’re using.

Likewise, gaining muscle doesn’t mean sitting on a bench in front of a mirror in the gym biceps-curling your way through the day. You’ll naturally gain a little muscle – or simply ‘activate’ the muscle you already have – when you’re focussing on improving your strength and your skill at various exercises.

If you consistently focus your workouts on getting strong at the same time as eating a decent diet, you will find yourself gaining the toned figure you’re looking for.

1kg of muscle is smaller than 1kg of fat – the muscle takes up less space on your body. Not to mention that a little more muscle (I’m still not talking big muscles or ‘getting bulky’) improves your figure overall.

Depending on your starting point, by losing some fat and gaining some muscle, you could quite happily drop a clothes size while weighing the same on the scales. By losing fat from wherever you’re storing it and gaining muscle on your legs / bottom / arms, you can reduce your physical size significantly without necessarily losing any weight on the scales.

I’d love to help you put together a workout to get your body into the shape you’d like it to be, and to help you work out the way you should eat in order to get there more easily – get in touch and we’ll have a chat.
