Happy New Year!
The start of the year is, of course, the most popular time for starting new health and fitness routines.
And 80% of these will fail. 75% of them within the first 3 months of the year.
Those are miserable statistics aren’t they!
With these in mind, I have just TWO pieces of advice for you if you’re trying to put any health and fitness related New Years resolutions into action:
Firstly:
Consistency is more important than quality.
Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good!
It is best to commit to only what you know with certainty that you can achieve, and to stick with it.
This is a far superior approach to over committing yourself and only managing to stick to it for a week.
Do less than you think you can, and make it a real part of your life before moving on.
Secondly:
Think about adding to your diet rather than taking away from it.
This simple mindset shift is really helpful – because suddenly, losing weight isn’t about deprivation!
Try to ADD more protein to each meal, and make sure you have enough nutrient rich food to see you through to your next meal.
Feeling satisfied in this way is super helpful for reducing food cravings, and makes the journey much easier than simply trying to willpower yourself away from the leftover Christmas treats.
I hope you’ll be able to bear this two things in mind as you put your health and fitness plans together for the year ahead.
