If you didn’t make it to my talk last week, you really missed out! We discussed loads of strategies to help you be in with the best chance possible of making your changes last for the long term.

I recorded the talk and I’ve uploaded it to YouTube, so, if you’d like to listen now please ask me for the link and I will gladly send it to you.

For today, let’s talk about small things. Small changes and small wins – they’re an important part of getting the results you want to see […]

Happy New Year!

January is the time of new beginnings – many of us are starting the year with a diet.

But, did you know that only 20% of people will be successful this year?

That means 80% of people will fail at reaching their diet related goal, most of them within the first two months of the year.

I’m going to do a free video talk to help you be part of the 20% of people who will achieve their health and fitness goals this year. It’ll be on Tuesday 18th January at 10am, and it’ll […]

Eating Over Christmas – Make Life Easier For Yourself in January

Let’s have a think about gaining weight over Christmas.

We all worry about gaining weight over Christmas, but please remember that months of hard work are not undone with two days of extra food intake. If we’re talking about a whole week of turning a blind eye to every serving of every treaty food imaginable, then you’re looking at a different picture – but, a couple of days of a bit of extra intake is not going to undo the progress you’ve made up to now.

It’s true that every day you’re not following your […]

The Better Way To Work Your Stomach Muscles

They say that a flat stomach is made in the kitchen, and that is definitely the first place to look, but, the way you exercise has a big impact too.

Think about how your workout is structured for your legs and your arms.

How many exercises do you do for your legs or arms? Quite a lot, I’d guess – you’re probably doing at least three sets of at least two exercises for your arms and for your legs.

What do you go when your arm and leg exercises get too easy? Most likely, you make them harder in […]

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

Some of the most delicious things in the natural world belong to the fruit family. I’ve just received figs in my fruit and veg box, and next week I’m due for persimmons. Two of my favourites – I’m certainly not going to be missing out!

Fruit sometimes gets a bad rap when talking about weight loss.

Largely, I think this is unfair.

Even the most calorie dense fruits have less than 100 calories per 100g. Compared to most processed sweet […]

Some Thoughts On Boredom

Boredom crops up in several different guises when we’re talking about health, fitness and weight loss, and I have some thoughts about it to share with you:

There is likely going to be a degree of boredom at times when you’re following your plan to reach your goals. The day to day boredom of remembering to keep plugging away can be hard at times, although I do sometimes wonder whether boredom is really the right word – perhaps ‘kind of wanting to rebel’ might be better?

You are not ‘being boring’ if you choose to decline something being offered […]

What Is The BEST Program For Weight Loss?

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

While there are a lot of constants in all programs written for weight loss (or at least there should be, let’s exclude weird faddy diets here!).

Any well designed weight loss focussed program should be based on real food, include some variation of resistance training and give some focus to the impact of lifestyle factors like stress management or sleep quality.

But when we start to look at the specifics, we see that knowing exactly where to focus your attention, how […]

(Yet Another) Trigger for Over Eating!

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

We’re a complicated breed us humans, and overeating is a big issue for so many of us.

The evenings seem to be an especially popular time of day to over eat, and I’ve covered various reasons for that – you can read them here.

There’s (yet) another potential trigger for over eating which we haven’t covered before and that is distraction.

Eating while you’re distracted is massively linked to overeating. Just think about that tub of popcorn you […]

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

I feel this is an important topic to cover, since so many of us are eternally seeking a certain figure, or a certain look.

We feel that once we reach our goal, life will be better because we will finally be happy with the way we look and we’ll just skip off into the sunset in delirious happiness.

But the truth is – the figure/look you want, is never the figure/look you want.

Even once you’ve reached your goal […]

The schools are back and we have a little more time and control over our days again.

It seems like a good time to get back on to the healthy lifestyle wagon, and to prepare for what could be, with a bit of luck, a much more sociable festive season than last year! Sorry. It’s inexcusable to refer to that time of year in September.

So, I’m looking for two ladies who are fed up with being stuck in a cycle of on:off dieting for low reward.

Do you feel like you’re always either ‘on it […]
