I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

Please do go and watch the videos if you haven’t already. If nothing else, they are a pretty accurate documentation of the remarkable amount of coldsores I’ve had over the last few months!

Likewise, would you like me to make some videos with different, or supplementary, content to these newsletters? Perhaps cooking videos and maybe some workout ones too?

So, the Covid rollercoaster continues, and now the weather is less cheerful, I think we all need to be paying a […]

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

Since we were all embarked on this Covid rollercoaster, I have been only offering online coaching.

It was something which started as a necessity, but, as I’ve said repeatedly; online coaching works an awful lot better than anyone expected. So much so that several of my long term clients have discovered that online coaching is something they would prefer to stick with rather than returning to face-to-face coaching.

Working with new clients without ever meeting face-to-face was […]

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

I always think it’s surprising just how many calories we can drink. Not because it really ought to be a surprise, but because drinks just don’t feel like they should be all that full of calories. I’m not even just talking about alcoholic drinks!

Let’s look at some not-water drinks you might have during the day:

Orange juice with breakfast – 100 calories for 250ml

Coffee shop coffees – a standard ‘tall’ latte is 181 calories, even if you […]

Should You Eat Small Meals More Often – Or Full Meals Less Often?

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

Have you heard these ‘facts’ before?

“Eating small meals is best for energy, and helps you stay less hungry”

or

“If you don’t eat often enough, your body will go into starvation mode and store more fat”

Are they true?

Is it better to eat smaller meals more often, or bigger meals with longer breaks between?

Definitely: not true. There are no studies to show that eating smaller meals more often leads to an improved outcome, and the calorie-sparing effects […]

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

When you’re thinking about starting a new workout routine, our first thoughts tend to be to simply move more. Which is super, and the absolute best first step you can take.

Often, we want to add in a specific workout too and, while the array of workouts available is vastly improved these days, there are plenty of fad type workouts which promise to help you lose weight and tone your *insert bodypart* by doing various strange looking, single-muscle focussed, exercises […]

Boris Wants Us To Lose Weight

So. Boris wants us all to join him on his quest to lose weight. Excellent! We have massive problems in this country with obesity and related health issues.

At last the attention of the country is on improving our health and fitness with the intention of improving our health and resilience rather than simply focussing on getting slimmer.

I’m hopeful that this may pave the way for more programs designed with health, resilience and longevity in mind, and less fad-type diet and exercise programs.

Boris has also been talking about how you don’t need a gym to […]

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

Changing your lifestyle in order to lose weight and improve your health can feel like something of a massive and overwhelming project.

The time and effort it takes to make changes can test even the most strong-willed of us, and to me, one solution is to make ONE change at a time.

Rather than trying to overhaul your entire life overnight, choose one area to focus all of your attention on improving. Often, changing one key habit is enough to unlock […]

How Much Weight Have You Gained?

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it on Facebook or Instagram.

There seem to be various numbers floating around, but apparently the average person has gained 0.6 stone during lockdown. That’s just shy of 4kg!

Apparently a third of us have gained significantly more than this too, and some of the numbers floating around are from over a month ago!

It sounds like a LOT of weight to gain doesn’t it. But, let’s break it down.

Of course there is way more to this, but it’s said that […]

Is anyone else drinking a lot more these days? It feels like an effective way to separate the day from the evening doesn’t it?

Although I must admit, I seem to be separating my day from my evening earlier and earlier….

With this in mind, I thought we should take a look at how alcohol affects how you perform and recover – and how it affects your weight loss.

Of course, it’s not rocket science to know that drinking too much […]

I’ve recorded this email as a video as well. You can find it  on  Facebook  or  Instagram.

Think back a few months, and remember some times that you said to yourself how easy it would be to make changes to your lifestyle if you had no other commitments and were able to focus just on yourself?

Funny how we find ourselves in pretty much that time right now.

And, actually, it seems harder than ever to make changes!

Have you found yourself lately saying that you’ll ‘get back to’ making changes after all this is over?

Which will […]
